Twenty students graduated from this round of the journalism training which was conducted by The Killid Group (TKG) in support of the European Union.

In these seven months course the technical journalism skills were learnt to the young trainees by the trainers of The Killid Group.

This program was conducted by The Killid Group with the financial support of the delegation of the European Union in Afghanistan; where the girls and boys learnt the fundamentals of journalism and reporting both theoretically and practically.

The participants of this training includes those children where some of them were previously busy with the heavy works on the streets of Kabul city; they not only learnt these trainings but at the last month of the training they prepare interesting reports from the children working on the streets and they are doing heavy work. They also prepared specific interviews which were broadcasted from Radio Killid Kabul and 12 other provinces under the title of Learning for Change.

Najiba Ayubi the Managing Director of The Killid Group at the certificates distribution ceremony stated, “with the support of Ashyana organization, Working Children Center, Independence Human Rights Commission and other institutions we were able to select the most needy and talented students for this training”.

DHSA/TKG with the support of European Union has the honor to celebrate the graduation ceremony of the 20 students who were under training of journalism during the year 2011. It is to mention that in this process Ashyana, Working Children Center, Independence Human Rights Commission and other organizations were also the cooperators; these organizations supported us from the introduction of these children until now and today the representatives of these organizations are with us in this ceremony.

It is also to mention that last year The Killid Group has organized a program which targeted three layers of people i.e. working children, women and disables; where The Killid Group was able to train them in different fields; also broadcasted the designed and developed programs through Radio Killid and other partner Radios. Today these people can stand on their feet which give us a hope of a bright future for them.

Afghan children are the vulnerable layer of the society; where most of them are involved in the heavy works in different timings. It is also reported that these children are used in the smuggling of drugs, sexual uses, used in the factories and other occasions which are incoherence with the children rights.

Ms. Najiba Ayubi is of the view that if children are working; it is against their rights but we could only attract a small number of them and it was the only way to free them from the heavy works of the streets.

The children who participated in this training program were busy half of the day in their studies and remaining half in this training course; for sure here we can say that these children were on safe side from the dangers of the smugglings and other threats.

The other problem for the young generation is the availability of education for them; where the government could not perform its responsibility in this regard partially.

Ms. Ayubi replied to the question of job availability for the graduated youngsters; she said that The Killid Group is trying to keep some of them within this group and introduce the remaining of them to the partner media organizations.

The Killid Group is struggling to the extent of its availabilities and to keep them as other media and it could not keep all of them, then to introduce some of them to the partner media organization; like this their job opportunities will also be ensured.

The Killid Group with the financial support of European Union not only serving for the development and betterment of the life conditions of the children but under the name of Change Life it is running another program which is to support the women and disables.

Afifa Marouf employee of the Children Support Unit of the Independence Human Rights Commission thanked the initiatives of TKG and mentioned that the government and other related institutions should consider this as a sample and support the children from different angles.

She also added that the heavy work on the children not only negatively affect the future life of them but also weaken the society and finally the whole government.

The initiative taken by Radio Killid was a fantastic initiation; hope that the government also follows the initiative of The Killid Group in order to bring motivation in its framework because firstly it is the responsibility of the government.

We request from the government authorities to consider this a precious action and they accomplish properly the responsibility that they have versus the children. Also we want from other media organizations to follow this initiation in order to secure a number of children who are busy in the heavy works on the streets.

The children are just like the white paper and whatever we would like to write on; we can, therefore the children needs a serious support, encouragement and guidance from their elders to differentiate between the right and wrong ways.

Zarmina Behroz from the Children Security Section of the Children in Danger Organization states with satisfaction that these children should share the topics they learnt during the training with other children.

I congratulated the graduation of these children and request them to be in service of themselves and the society; wish your success and prosperity from God and thanks TKG for this initiation.

Development of the society has a direct relation with its people, a society can never develop without the participation of its different layers; finally if the children are the future of this country should not be forgotten.

In this ceremony; teacher Masouda from the Women Training Center who was involvedin the supervision process of this training said, the responsible of this program has put an extreme effort on the youngsters who were not trusting on themselves and prepared them for the service of themselves and the society.

I thank TKG organization for operating and running such programs, before this our children were not expecting to learn in the field of journalism but now they can run different type of programs and are free of the heavy works. Once again I thank TKG that they put much effort regarding this during the period.

From the other side those children who participated in this training said that now they can prepare interesting reports and different events by themselves alone.

I thank from radio Killid that initiated such a program, we learnt many interesting topics both theoretically and practically and we hope that we have a bright future.

The graduation of Kabul students are celebrated at the time where there were the celebration of 80 other students who were also learning the fundamentals of journalism in Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabd, Herat and Kandahar which was also financially supported by the European Union.
