The violence against the children in the history is one of the non-humanistic actions in the world which is based on the natural, historical, material, social and spiritual behavior in the society; especially in the third world countries like Afghanistan.

It is apparently seen that the violence against children who cannot defend or against the youth are done by people in power, elders, head of the families, managers of economic, social, cultural, government institutions. This infelicitous phenomenon is implemented from the different angles on all categories of the society including innocent people, women, children and the followers and with its turn it negatively affects the growth of the society.

However the violence against the children has an historical, social, political, cultural phenomenon which has numerous factors and practical evaluation and socially identification of that is impossible for us but sharing the ideas in this regard is the right of each individual.

In our country the violence against the lower category is committed by different people of the society; the children who are known as the future makers of the country are also not remain from these violence and they are faced with the violence by different people.

One of the wretched issues is the violence against the children at the schools, the place where the children should grow from all angles.

It is said that there are schools where the teachers are using sticks and beating the students to calm them down; which is a type of violence against the children and has negative effects on the minds of the children, their mental growth and cause many other problems to the children.

For further information on the negative effects and outcomes of violence, I (Masoud Ansar) have conducted an interview with one of the training managers of the Children in Danger organization; which is going to be presented to you dears.

I am Nizamuddin Noori; one of the training managers regarding the children’s right of the Children in Danger Organization.

Question: Please discuss about the children situation in Afghanistan?

During the many years survey we have found that the situation of the children of Afghanistan are not good and these surveys were conducted before the children’s trainings regarding their rights in Kabul city, districts, markets and business centers; children are appointed to different types of work and they are used from different angles and all the children are facing the danger, an attention should be paid to prevent the children from the danger.

Question: In which aspects the children are mostly misused?

Answer: As you are the witness; some of the worker children because of their economic problems are working on the streets and they are not going to school and because of this need they are working in the business centers, shops and other locations and some of them beside working are also studying; certainly in the places where they are working they will be faced with the violence.

Question: You have conducted a survey regarding the beating of children at the schools, this survey has shown the increase in violence against them are what?

Answer: It is to mention that in the places where the children are working, they are mostly faced with violence; without doubt we can say that violence is there at the schools which means that the students are beaten at schools which has different reasons i.e. some of the teachers for bringing discipline, not studying and or not bringing the home work put the students under beating.

Question: Is beating leads to the violation of the children’s right and these children are won’t be obsessive in the future?

Answer: It is to say that violence put negative effects on the spirit of the children and those teachers who shows violence to the children it affects their minds.

Example: the child who is faced with violence select calmness, less bold, fed up from the school and some of them escape from homes.

Question: As the teachers are treating the children with violence; isn’t it the reason that previously they were faced with the violence and now they would like to throw away their obsession by these actions?

Answer: You have mentioned an interesting point but to the point of my understanding it would not be the case, but the problem is that some of the teachers have not understood yet that what is positive discipline and what is negative discipline?

But in order to calm down the students and attract their attention towards the studies; they use stick, harsh tune and violence.

It is also to say that creating positive discipline in a society, home and even in a classroom is a necessary action.

In the first step we need to aware the students from their responsibilities and they know this that how to treat with the small children and elders.

When the children understand their responsibilities they also know their rights.

For example: when the teacher has given the homework to the students and they attempted the homework, then the teacher encourage the student and avoid beating them and like this the students are moved towards the positive discipline and the violence is eliminated.

Question: Is violence method used in the other countries against the children in order to study or not?

Answer: It is to mention that based on the administrative and education systems; beating is not allowed.

Fortunately, I have to say that in the year 2006 an official letter (stop violence against children) from the ministry of education side was sent to all private and government schools. But unfortunately, this letter has a positive effect to some extent and in some of the schools these commands are violated which has created problems.

And we are trying to establish the positive discipline system from the base or class one; until we slowly and step by step empower the education system and in overall we eliminate the violence in all schools.

Question: Is there any specific program of the ministry of education about the behavior of the teachers to the students or not?

Answer: After sending the letter of stop violence against the children; the request of the ministry from all the schools was to eliminate the violence against the children, we also convey the topics of children’s right and positive discipline to the schools, therefore we have accommodated programs in the training of teachers as an alternate to the horrid and harsh behavior of the teachers; this is for the purpose that they use these alternatives to move the children towards the positive discipline system.

Question: Why the teachers are beating the children and they talk to them with the offensive tune?

Answer: If we do not consider the behavior of the teacher towards the students and consider the case of parents; still if they would like to maintain the discipline of their children, they use harsh tune and violence against them.

Similarly, the teachers are in order to bring discipline they use the violence but to my understanding this system is totally wrong; we can use the positive discipline with the children and encourage them to positive things until they move forward and acquire positive discipline.

Question: As a total what negative effects do these violence have on the mental growth of the children?

Answer: It is to say that if the violence is from the teachers side or from the parents, it is violating the rights of the children.

Also the children who are faced with the violence; they lose their self-confidence which has its negative outcomes as well in behind i.e. the child cannot share a problem with the parent and teachers which are faced to him/her.

Question: As a final question if you can tell us; why some of the teachers who are working in both private and government schools simultaneously; they are not doing violence in the private schools?

Answer: It is to mention that beating of the students are also in the private schools but it is very rare; the reason behind this is that the if the children are beaten they will be fed up of the schools. Those teachers who are attracted from the government schools to the private schools are also informed to prohibit from violence.

Question: What ways you are proposing for the solution of these problems?

Answer: Ministry of Education and those organizations who are working for the children’s right should conduct trainings inside Kabul and provinces regarding the rights of the children and bringing positive discipline; these trainings should not be limited to the teachers but the managers should also be considered. It is because to let all the layers of the organization know about the rights of the children from Islam perspective and these children who are considered a vulnerable layer to be forgotten.

And the other issue is that through Ministry of Education, media and scholars, their rights should be showed off to the others and they also get the awareness.

Thank you very much friends because of the follow up of the program until the end.
