Pakistan’s COVID-19 Deaths Cross 25,000 Mark

A total of 80 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan on Sunday, pushing the death toll to 25,003 in the country, the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) said Monday.

Amid the serious fourth wave of the disease, Pakistan confirmed 3,772 new COVID-19 cases as the positivity rate of the virus exceeded 7 percent in the country, according to the NCOC.

The new cases has brought the overall tally to 1,127,584 across the country, the center said.

Pakistan’s southern Sindh province has been the worst hit, with a total of 420,955 cases, followed by east Punjab province where the disease was detected in 380,844 people.

The country currently has 89,919 active cases while 1,012,662 others have recovered.

The vaccination drive in the country has also picked up pace with 915,856 doses administered over the last 24 hours, the NCOC said.

Some 37,043,561 people have been partially vaccinated and 13,434,605 others fully inoculated in the country, according to the latest official data.
