Armed Taliban on Wednesday attacked on border forces of the 203rd Thunder Corps, but faced responsive attacks and airstrikes, said Aimal Khan Momand, spokesman for the army corps.
As many as 11 Pakistani nationals and two key commanders were among the dead, according to the spokesman, and 12 others were wounded.
A number of weapons were seized from the militants, he added.
Three soldiers of Afghan border forces were also killed and six others injured, Mr. Aimal said.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
