In a Facebook post, First Vice President Amrullah Saleh said that two arrests had been made in relation with destroying electricity pylons.
A Special Forces’ member was killed and two others injured during the operation, he added.
According to the power utility company—Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS), as many as 30 power pylons have been damaged in several Afghan provinces in the past six months.
At least USD 952,000 were spent to repair the pylons, the company added.
Sangar Niazi, spokesman for the DABS, spoke with TKG, saying, during the past one and half month, the company had faced power shortages more than ever.
Afghanistan has recently seen an increase in power outage caused by blowing up pylons.
It is not yet clear who the perpetrators involved in majority of the incidents are and what their motive is.
