As many as 20 Taliban fighters were killed and eight others wounded in Afghan forces air raids on Friday, June 4, said Qadir Bahadurzai, spokesman for the army in the south.
He confirmed civilian casualties without mentioning the number.
The civilians were targeted as they were looting a military base, he added.
Meanwhile, head of provincial council Attaullah Afghan also confirmed civilian and Taliban casualties in the air raids.
Taliban have claimed at least 30 civilians were killed and 70 more wounded in the strikes.
