Armed Taliban on Friday evening stormed army outposts in Qadis district of Badghis province, Hassibullah Masood Akhundzada, an army commander said.
According to him, five Taliban fighters, including Bai Jan, commander of the group’s Special Forces known as Red Unit were killed as clashes erupted between government forces and the fighters.
Another six members of the group were injured in clashes, Mr. Akhundzada said.
A government soldier was also wounded, according to him.
Badghis Province is located in the isolated hills of northwestern Afghanistan with a deteriorated security situation, especially in Qadis district, in southern part of the province.
