The Taliban fired a mortar shell on Saturday evening during clashes with government forces in Anarjoi area, said police spokesman Shaiq Shoresh.
The mortar shells hit a wedding party, killing seven and wounding four others, the spokesman said.
The ministry of defense put the toll of casualties to six killed and four wounded—all civilians.
Officials from the Afghan government and the Taliban have pointed the blame at each other.
