Qari Ghorzang, the Imam (worship leader) of a mosque, was killed Friday night by unknown armed men in Gamin area of Laghman’s provincial capital of Mehtarlam, said governor spokesman Assadullah Dawlatzai.
No arrest has been made so far, according to the spokesman.
Efforts were underway to hunt down the perpetrators and arrest them, he added.
No individual or armed group has claimed responsibility for the murder.
