The operation had been carried out in Imam Sahib district of the province.
A government soldier has been killed and two others wounded during the operation, said provincial police spokesman Anamuddin Rahmani.
According to the spokesman, two villages have been cleared off from Taliban.
The operation continues in the district, he added.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
