The operation was carried in two villages in Chamtal district of Afghanistan’s northern Balkh province, said Hanif Rezaiee, spokesman for the Shaheen army corps.
The villages were cleared off the Taliban, according to the spokesman.
Five Taliban were killed and three others wounded during the clearance operation, he added.
A number of weapons were also seized from the insurgents.
There was no comment from the Taliban yet.
