A Taliban key commander has been killed during clashes with government forces in Chesht district of western Herat province.

Taliban Key Commander Killed in Herat

According to a statement by Herat governor’s office, Mullah Sherin, a Taliban commander for eastern districts, was killed in clashes which erupted Tuesday evening between the insurgents and the Afghan government.

Mullah Sherin was responsible for attacks on Afghan forces’ outposts in Dara-e Takht and Chesht districts.

It comes as on Tuesday, the Taliban destroyed a bridge in Oba district of the province, according to Herat’s governor.

There was no comment from the Taliban.
