Coronavirus: Afghanistan Reports 221 Infections

Health ministry in Afghanistan on Sunday, May 9, reported 221 new COVID-19 infections and twelve related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to health ministry spokesman, Mirwais Alizai, as many as twelve more patients have died after contracting the coronavirus disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,698.

Also, as many as 221 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 61,842.

Some 182 patients have recovered from the virus during the 24-hours period.

It pushed the overall toll of recoveries to 54,222 since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.
