Habiba Sarabi, member of a negotiation team representing the Afghan government, said government peace delegation on Friday evening met with representatives of the extended “Troika,” comprising the United States, Russia, China, and Pakistan, in Doha, capital of Qatar.
Afghan peace process, strengthening regional consensus and efforts to build up a common vision among negotiation teams were the conference deliberations.
The Extended “Troika” members also held a separate meeting with the Taliban delegation, said a group’s spokesman Naeem Wardak.
During the conference, removal of the Taliban leaders and members from black lists, release of its remaining prisoners, and the current situation of the country were discussed, he added.
It comes as a U.S.-sponsored peace conference which was scheduled for April 24, has been postponed to after Ramadan—a Muslim holy month and Eid-al Fitr that follows.
According to sources, the postponement was due to a Taliban refusal to participate in the meeting.
