Afghan forces on Friday carried out airstrikes, said the ministry, killing Qari Haidar, the Taliban shadow district governor for Warduj district of Badakhshan province.
As many as 21 other militants were also killed in the raids, it said.
Other 23 were wounded and seven strongholds and hideouts destroyed, according to the ministry.
The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
