The explosion took place Thursday morning in Kamar Kalagh area on way to Herat-Torghundi highway, said provincial police spokesman Ahad Walizada.
He didn’t disclose details of casualties; Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, spokesman for Herat Health Department, however, put the toll to two policemen wounded who were rushed to hospital.
Another policeman was killed in the explosion, the spokesman said.
In another attack on Wednesday, a car loaded with explosives detonated by the Taliban near the national security directorate of Shindand district in the province.
Sayed Wahid Qitali, the provincial governor confirmed the attack without releasing details of casualties.
It follows the Taliban warnings that the group is carrying out car bomb attacks to target military compounds in the province, calling on resident to evacuate.
