A key member of the al-Qaeda, Dawlat Baig Tajik known as Abu Mohammad al Tajiki, and a Taliban prominent commander, Hazrat Ali known as Hamza, a native of Waziristan were killed in a special forces’ operation in Giyan district of Paktika province, read a spy agency’s statement.
They were the behind deadly attacks of the Taliban and al-Qaeda, according to the statement.
The men killed were responsible for equipping and financing the Taliban in Ghazni, Logar and Zabul provinces, it added. They had also been training Taliban militants.
Afghan officials have constantly been blaming Taliban for ties with al-Qaeda.
