The participants hailed the United Nations’ active and effective involvement in the Afghan peace process, adding a reduction in violence and establishing ceasefire are necessary to ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan.
The conference attendees also voiced concern over the continued ties between the Taliban and al-Qaeda and on using the Afghan soil as a safe harbor for other terrorist groups.
The Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process ninth ministerial conference titled “Strengthening Consensus for Peace and Development” kicked off on Monday with member foreign ministers and representatives of countries as well as international agencies attending it in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The conference successfully ended on Tuesday evening.
At the end of the conference, participants came up to an agreement to launch the tenth conference of Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process in the Afghan capital of Kabul in 2022.
