A remote-controlled explosive device was placed and set up near a mosque in Paghman district of the Afghan capital on Tuesday evening, Kabul, said provincial police spokesman Ferdaws Faramarz.
The bomb was found and defused by Kabul police, he added.
Afghanistan, already gripped by decades-long war and violence, has been witnessing a rise in bomb attacks.
The attacks, often without claim of responsibility, claims lives of civilians mostly.
There was no claim of responsibility for the attack.
