Afghan Government Warns of Retaliation after Military Chopper Crashes in Central Afghanistan

At least four flight crew and five security personnel were killed on Wednesday night after a military helicopter belonging to Afghan Air Forces (AAF) crashed in Behsood district of Maidan Wardak province.

Shah Mahmoud Miakhel, first deputy defense minister, said Friday at the funeral of the four security personnel that perpetrators will be held to account.

General Mohammad Yasin Zia, Chief of Army Staff, said at the funeral ceremony that whoever engages in fight against Afghan forces will be quashed.

The Afghan Defense Ministry has not disclosed who were behind the crash, but members of Maidan Wardak provincial council have said the chopper crashed at a territory where men loyal to Ali Pour were active.
