Central Afghanistan: 9 Killed as Military Chopper Crashes

At least nine people have been killed after a military chopper crashed in Maidan Wardak province, in central Afghanistan.

Central Afghanistan: 9 Killed as Military Chopper Crashes

According to a statement released Thursday by the Afghan Ministry of Defense, a military helicopter belonging to Afghan Air Forces (AAF) crashed in Behsood district of Maidan Wardak province last night.

Four flight crew and five security personnel were killed in the clash.

An investigation into the incident was underway, the statement read.

The ministry said in another statement that a dozen Taliban fighters were killed and seven others wounded in an Afghan forces attack.

The operation was launched in Nerkh district of the province.

The Taliban group has not commented yet.
