Gen. McKenzie met with President Ashraf Ghani in Kabul to discuss the Afghan peace process and U.S. supports for the government forces and security situation in Afghanistan, the statement read.
Both expressed concern over a surge in violence in the country.
The visit comes as two conferences on Afghanistan will be held in Russia and Turkey.
Top Afghan official—Afghan President’ National Security Adviser—Hamdullah Mohib told reporters on Saturday that Kabul government will attend the conferences.
