Afghan forces have carried out operations in Zhari and Arghandab districts of southern Kandahar province, a statement by Defense Ministry read.
At least 28 Taliban fighters were killed and another eight wounded during the operation, it said.
A number of weapons and explosives were also demolished.
The statement added that as many as 11 IEDs were also found and defused.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
