Afghan commando forces on Tuesday night set free at least 34 prisoners, including 27 military personnel and seven civilians, who were held in a Taliban custody in Karocha area of Adraskan district, said Fawad Aman, the ministry’s deputy spokesperson.
There were 11 army soldiers, seven policemen, three Air Force members, five project employees and seven civilians who were government workers among the released prisoners.
One member of pro-government militias called Public Uprising Forces was also rescued, according to the spokesman.
Mr. Aman added as many as six Taliban militants were also killed during the operation.
The Taliban group has yet to comment.
Earlier too, dozens of prisoners had been released from the Taliban custody across Afghan provinces.
