According to Pakistani media citing figures from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), at least 23 more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 12,860.
Also, as many as 1,176 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 579,973.
Some 545,277 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.
At least 1,562 patients are in critical condition.
Pakistan’s government has warned people to follow COVID-19 precautionary measures and get vaccinated as the country has confirmed the presence of the U.K. strain of novel coronavirus.
The Ministry of National Health Services (NHS) in a statement said Saturday that Pakistan was among 92 countries in the world where the variant has been detected.
