The Taliban insurgents on Tuesday wanted to detonate a car rigged with explosives on a military based in Sayed Abad district of Maidan Wardak province, said Afghan Ministry of Defense.
Government forces identified the suicide attacker and foiled the attempt before hitting the target, it said.
The ministry did not disclose details of casualties.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
