Five Wounded in Blast in W. Afghanistan

At least five civilians, including three women and one child, were wounded in a roadside bomb explosion in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat.

A civilian vehicle struck a roadside bomb on Herat-Kandahar highway Monday evening.

Mohammad Rafiq Shirzai, spokesman for the provincial health department, confirmed at least five wounded people were taken to regional hospital in the province.

Roadside bombs mostly claims civilians in the war-torn country.

Human rights groups have constantly called on warring sides to prevent civilian casualties.
