Universities to Reopen in Afghanistan in Next Few Days

The Afghan Ministry of Higher Education announced Monday that it plans to open universities and higher education institutes and bring students back to classrooms within next few days.

Universities to Reopen in Afghanistan in Next Few Days

In a statement released Monday, the Ministry of Higher Education said that in-person classes in all nationwide public and private universities will resume on March 5.

According to the statement, a fall final exam will be given on April 4 and finished on 27.

The second chance examinations will take place on April 30 and will last until May 9.

The ministry added in its statement that the spring semester will begin on May 10.

According to Afghan cabinet’s decision made on November 16, all universities and higher education institutions closed in bids to curb the spread of the highly contagious coronavirus.

As per the health ministry’s data, Afghanistan has recorded more than 55,600 infection cases since the outbreak as it registered 29 new lab-confirmed cases within the last 24 hours.

However, a total of 2,435 patients having been contracted with the disease have died and a total of 48,895 have recovered from the pandemic during the same period.
