In a statement, the 207th Zafar Army Corps announced clashes erupted between Afghan security forces and the Taliban in Qades district of the province Sunday night.
At least eight Taliban militants were killed and another six wounded in the clash, it read.
Mullah Saleh, the group’s shadow governor for Qades district was also among the wounded.
There was no report of casualties to Afghan forces.
Government forces could also find and defused two land mines in the area.
The Taliban officials have yet to comment.
