Afghanistan Registers 16 New COVID-19 Infections

Afghanistan recorded 16 more coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours, pushing its nationwide case count to 55,402.

As many as 16 people were tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry on Tuesday, adding the country recorded four COVID-19 deaths during the same period.

The new patients died from the illness brought the total deaths to 2,418, according to ministry’s figures.

Also, 67 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 48,109.

At least 1,837 tests were carried out during the past 24 hours-period.

Worldwide, 2,325,299 have died from the deadly disease and over 106.5 million more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
