Farid Khan, spokesman for the provincial police chief, confirmed the incident, saying it took place Wednesday morning around 8:00 [Afghanistan time], in the fourth district of Jalalabad city.
The perpetrators have managed to flee the area, according to the spokesman, who added police efforts to arrest them were underway.
On Tuesday too, an employee of the national security directorate was killed in Angor Bagh area of Jalalabad city.
A wave of targeted assassinations and explosions has soared in the country already gripped with decades-long war and violence.
