Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, who heads the Afghan High Council for National Reconciliation met Saturday with Ross Wilson, the U.S. Chargé d’Affaires to Kabul, in Sapedar Palace, his office said.
The chairperson of reconciliation council said at the meeting the war-weary nation want ceasefire and and end to bloodshed, according to the statement.
The U.S. Chargé da’Affaires Ross Wilson said the new administration under President Biden supports the peace process and the second round of peace talks between Afghan government and the Taliban are due to begin in earnest.
It comes as violence has recently soared in the country torn by long-decades war and bloodshed despite negotiators from the Afghan government and the Taliban are holding meetings in the Qatari capital of Doha aimed at ending Afghanistan’s conflict.
