The Afghan spy agency, the National Directorate of Security, said Saturday its forces have arrested Mohammad known as Haji Lala said to be the Taliban shadow acting governor for Kabul province.
He was also the head of the group’s military commission for Maidan Wardak, Logar, Parwan, Nangarhar and Kabul provinces recruited by Jabar Agha, a commander of the insurgents.
He was responsible to communicate leadership orders to carry out serial killings and assassinations to commanders of the group in those five provinces.
After Jabar Agha left for Pakistan, Haji Lala was hired as the group’s acting governor for Kabul province, according to the statement.
The Taliban however claimed the man arrested by Afghan intelligence forces was not Haji Lala, issuing denial to know him.
