Afghan Ministry of Defense announced in a statement the operations were carried out in Nawa district of Helmand, killing at least 34 armed Taliban.
Abdul Wali, head of the group’s military commission, Atiqullah, deputy head of its Red Unit—the Taliban Special Forces—and Abdul Khaliq, a prominent commander of the militants were also among the dead.
At least three vehicles and dozens of weapons belonging to the fighters were also demolished, the statement read.
The Taliban have not commented yet.
