Coronavirus: Afghanistan Reports 46 New Infections

Health authorities in Afghanistan announced Saturday (January 16) the country has registered 46 new COVID-19 infections and three related deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to Afghan health ministry, at least three more patients have died after contracting the disease, pushing the toll of fatalities to 2,339.

Also, as many as 46 new cases of infection were reported in the country, bringing the nationwide case count to 53,981.

The new infection cases were registered in Kabul, Herat, Kandahar, Paktia, Nimroz, Panjshir, Khost, Paktika and Sar-i-Pul provinces.

Some 45,465 patients have recovered from the virus since the outbreak first appeared in China entered the country.

At least 1,341 suspected cases were processed during the last 24-hour-period.
