Afghan government forces have set free over a dozen people held in Taliban custody in southern Helmand province, the ministry of defense said.

Many Civilians Set Free from Taliban Custody

At least 13 civilians and a police officer were released from a Taliban prison in an overnight operation carried out by commando forces in Washir district of Helmand province, said Afghan Ministry of Defense in a statement.

Several vehicles were also seized from the armed group, according to the statement.

The Taliban officials have not commented yet.
