Scores of Taliban militants gathered Sunday in areas in Gizab district of Urozgan province and planned to storm security outposts, read a statement by Ministry of Defense.
Afghan forces targeted the group, and clashes erupted between government forces and the Taliban insurgents, killing at least eleven militants and eight others wounded.
A number of weapons and two motorbikes were also demolished during the clash.
The Taliban officials have not yet commented.
