Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani arrived in Nangarhar’s capital of Jalalabad early today morning to assess the overall situation in the province, his office said in a statement.
He is scheduled to meet local officials, elders, youths, women, religious figures and military officials.
Attaullah Khogyani, spokesman for the provincial governor, said President Ghani was accompanied by First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, the National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib, a number of Cabinet members and the National Assembly.
