Suicide bombers who Afghan officials claim belonged to the Taliban planned to detonate an explosive-rigged vehicle Tuesday evening near Shrintagab market in northern Faryab province but was identified by Afghan forces and demolished, Hanif Rezaiee, spokesman for the 209th Shaheen Army Corps said.
At least one civilian was killed and four others—three civilians and one ANA soldier—were wounded as the bomb exploded.
Two suicide bombers in the explosive borne car were killed by government forces, according to the spokesman.
The car bomb explosion damaged many nearby houses and shops, he added.
The Taliban group has yet to comment.
