Taliban fighters planned to storm security outposts belonging to Afghan forces in Zhari and Arghandab districts of Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province, read a statement by Ministry of Defense.
But Afghan forces’ defensive attacks disrupted fighters, killing at least 38 of the insurgents and wounding another three.
A number of weapons and three hideouts were also demolished during the raid.
The Taliban have not commented on the matter.
Intensified hostilities in the battlefield have recently inflicted heavy casualties on combatants from both sides despite peace efforts of the two negotiating teams who push for bringing the decades-long war of Afghanistan to an end.
