Office of Attorney’s General, in close coordination with national security forces, has arrested four officials in the ministry of health over charges bribery.
The Attorney General’s Office (AGO) has opened investigations into the alleged corruption and will share details with media, its spokesman Jamshid Rasooli said.
The arrest comes a day after three members of the Afghan Senate, Upper House of the National Assembly, were arrested over accepting thousand dollars in bribe.
Speaking at a press conference Monday, Farhad Azimi, governor of northern Balkh province, said three members of the Afghan Senate who were tasked for inspecting custom offices in the province were detained while accepting thousand dollars in bribe.
The have been transferred to the capital Kabul, according to the governor.
He did not elaborate on the identity of Senate members but said they were arrested based on evidence and in accordance with law.
Attorney General’s Office as well as the Afghan intelligence agency, the National Directorate of Security, have released a joint statement on the matter.
