The Afghan National Army’s 215th Maiwand Corps in Helmand said that Afghan forces had carried out an air strike against insurgents in Nawa district of the province, killing at least 11 Al-Qaeda members and two Taliban fighters.
Another two members of the Taliban were wounded in raids, said the corps’ statement.
Masood Ahmad, a Taliban group leader known as Haqbin, who was responsible for the maintenance of foreign terrorists as well as the facilitator of activities of Al-Qaeda affiliates, was also among the dead, read the statement.
Al-Qaeda members killed in Afghan forces raids were of the skilled bombers and trainers of using snipers for the Taliban, according to the statement of the corps.
It comes two days after at least four members of Al-Qaeda for Indian Subcontinent were also killed in the province.
