The coronavirus total infections hit 52,147 in Afghanistan after it registered 140 more coronavirus cases over the last 24 hours.

At least 140 people were tested positive for the coronavirus pandemic within the past 24 hours, said the health ministry Monday, adding the country lost nine more COVID-19 patients during the same period.

The new patients died from the illness pushed the total deaths to 2,179, according to ministry’s figures.

Also, 279 patients having been contracted with the COVID-19 disease have recovered over the past 24 hours, bringing the toll of coronavirus recoveries to 41,610.

Worldwide, at least 1,760,548 have died and over 80.4 million more have been infected since the start of an outbreak that first appeared in Wuhan, China, in early December.
