The human rights commission has noted that during the last five days, a total of 26 civilian casualties was recorded.
AIRHC’s preliminary findings indicated that at least nine civilians have been killed and another 17 injured due to a surge in bombings and armed attacks in Kabul, Khost, Kapisa and Kandahar provinces.
The commission condemned these civilian casualties and called it crime.
It also called on the Afghan government to take action toward ensuring security.
A surge of targeted killings and assassinations, often without being claimed, has gripped Afghanistan in recent days, with violence having dramatically increased.
Those being targeted are mostly journalists, women rights activists, representatives from the civil society, peace and democracy advocates and figures from all rights spectrum.
At most recent, Freshta Kohistani, a women’s rights activist and her brother came under armed attack Thursday evening.
A day earlier, Yousef Rasheed, the Executive Director of Free and Fair Election Forum of Afghanistan (FEFA) was shot and killed by unknown armed men in Afghan capital Kabul.
