Of the total 2,275 suspected cases processed, 170 tests came back positive.
In the last 24 hours, 170 more people tested positive for the highly contagious coronavirus, and 13 additional patients died after contracting it, a tally by the Afghan health ministry indicated.
Another statistic was also on rise: the number of patients recovered from the illness. According to health ministry data, the recovery toll has hit 40,678 after 96 patients got better during the last 24 hours.
At least 1,735,882 people worldwide have died from COVID-19 and more than 78.9 have been infected by the virus that causes it, following an outbreak that started in Wuhan, China, in early December.
