At least two IEDs, said to be homemade bombs of the Taliban and aimed to target a mosque in the eight district of Maimana city, were found and foiled by Afghan forces Thursday evening, said Karim Yourish, spokesman for the provincial police chief.
At least one person involved in the bombing plot was arrested, according to the source.
The Taliban have not yet commented.
