Top Afghan Peace Negotiator Wins Casa Asia Award

The Casa Asia occasion was held Monday in Madrid, Spain.

Fawzia Koofi, member of Afghan government negotiation team and a former lawmaker, won the Casa Asia award of “Diversity and Sustainable Development” for her supports to Afghan women and children, her role in Afghanistan’s peace process as well as her commitments for educating women and girls in the war-torn country.

Koofi, Afghan politician and women’s rights activist, is one of the few women taking part in negotiations with the Taliban.

She was one of two female delegates among the dozens of men at Moscow talks as well.

Casa Asia was created in 2004 and grants awards to four categories: Economy and Business, Education and Science, Culture and Society, and Diversity and Sustainable Development.
