The Taliban insurgents attacked on Dawlat Abad district of Afghanistan’s northern Faryab province, and at the same time, their explosive-laden Humvee was being driven toward the district compound.

Afghan government forces fended off the Taliban attack which prompted the suicide bomber to prematurely explode some 1,500 kilograms of explosives loaded in the vehicle near residential houses in the district, the provincial governor Naqibullah Faiq spoke to TKG.

According to the governor, dozens of houses were damaged, leaving many civilian trapped under rubbles.

Initial reports released by the governor indicated that at least two government soldiers were killed and another five wounded in the attack.

At least six militants were killed and another five wounded during clashes with Afghan forces, the governor added.

The Taliban officials have not yet commented.
