At the meeting, First Vice President Amrullah Saleh, President’s National Security Adviser Hamdullah Mohib, Director-General of President’s office Fazel Fazly, Chief of Army Staff Mohammad Yasin Zia, U.S. Chargé d’Affaires in Kabul Ross Wilson and the Commander of the Resolute Support Mission General Scott Millerwere present, the statement by President’s office read.
“Both sides expressed their concerns over the escalation of violence in Afghanistan,” according to the statement.
The Afghan peace process as well as the immediate need for a ceasefire in the country were also stocks of the discussion.
The visit comes as country gripped with decades-long war is still witnessing high levels of violence amid peace efforts of the negotiators from the government and the Taliban.
