The Taliban deputy leader Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar leading a delegation left Doha for Pakistan to meet the country’s Prime Minister Imran Khan and Foreign Minister Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, the group’s spokesman, Mohammad Naeem Wardak took to Twitter.
The Taliban officials “will discuss issues of mutual interest” with the neighboring country’s officials, Mr. Wardak added.
“Problems of refugees, relaxation and facilitation of afghan’s movement to Pakistan, as well as the problems of Afghan traders,” will be the particular focus of discussion, said the spokesman.
Baradar’s visit to Pakistan comes as, according to a joint statement of the Afghan government and the Taliban, next round of talks will be held on January 5 of next year after a three-week pause.
The government officials return back to Kabul to seek further consultations on the agenda of the peace negotiations, what the negotiators described as the main reason for the delay.
